It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

December 9, 2008

Hi friends!

I suppose you all are dying to know what new and exciting things I did this weekend. Let’s see. Here I go. New and exciting things … umm, I am sorry to disappoint. Mostly I took naps. And ate things. If I think of anything else, I will let you know.

I did see 4 Christmases. I’m fairly sure that my friends skewed the vote by voting multiple times for the movie they wanted to see. But whatevs. The movie was pretty funny. Sometimes a bit inappropriate. You know, the usual romantic comedy nowadays. I noticed that The Dark Knight goes on sale this Tuesday — another Christmas gift idea!

I also hosted the Christmas party for my church’s coffee shop volunteers. This meant that I had to scramble to get all of our Christmas decorations up. It’s a veritable winter wonderland in here now, though. You should come visit and see all of the new holes I’ve put in the wall to keep the garland up. I do love me some Christmas!

I also love my church. If you live in Colorado Springs, start attending Calvary Worship Center immediately. You will never regret it. Our pastor is so great — I’m excited to go to church every Sunday. This past week he talked about everlasting hope — you can listen to it here if you want. Pastor Al is so great — he speaks truth and he cracks me up every single week. I didn’t know anything about Calvary churches before I moved here, but apparently they always preach straight from the Word and also, they’re awesome. So you should find one in your area.

In less spiritual news, I went skiing yesterday! Sometimes people go ahead and buy ski passes before they know they’re getting laid off. It happens.

It was my first day of the ski season, and although the snow wasn’t great, it was pretty fun. I have discovered, however, that my legs are made of weaksauce. Or that I have really poor form when I ski. Probably both. My legs were killing by the end of the day, but it was definitely worth it. Also, I fell like four times! I don’t usually fall when I ski — mainly because I make sure that I am only going about two miles an hour so that I do not fall. But I just couldn’t keep myself from slipping yesterday. How embarrassing. I was sure to blame the icy runs though. Also, I think I saw a meerkat — it distracted me, which is why I fell … Anyway, it was fun times overall. It’s one of the perks of not having a job — skiing on weekdays when everyone else is at work!

Today I’m going to the Focus on the Family Institute to be on a panel about dating. This is where I will give all of my seasoned advice about how to date well. My wisdom will be expended in about 32 seconds, and then I’ll sit there like a lump for the rest of the time. I’m sure I’ll be super helpful.

That’s about it. My day of skiing really messed up my TV schedule — I have no clue what happened on Judge Mathis! I need to get my priorities straight. Please help hold me accountable. Also, please come visit my Christmasy house. I have eggnog!

I love CWC! I went there for four years and I miss it. What a great church.

If you’re trying to lure people to your home, I would not use egg nog as an incentive. The only person that’s going to lure is MJ and we all know he’s going to visit you anyhow.

I love your blog so much, Denise! I come here daily to read the next adventure. And honestly, it’s the only one (shhh! Don’t tell all the other nice bloggers out there).
